WoolX is made of 100% Australian merino wool and claims it is the softest merino wool on the market.

WoolX X-Plorer Mid-Weight Merino Wool Neck Gaiter
Size: One size fits all
Colours: 14 different colours
Weight: 2.3 oz
Price: $34.00 USD

Features:

Right out of the package, WoolX's merino wool feels soft and silky. The company backs this up with a no-itch guarantee on all their garments. If you're not satisfied, just return it for a full refund. The 100% Australian Merino wool is doubled on this neck gaiter, making it great for winter activities. The company claims it can wick well, has non-chafe seams, and has superior warmth and comfort. It also can be thrown in the washer and dryer without any shrinkage.

Pros:
I tested this product during a variety of winter activities that I participate in (cross country skiing, downhill skiing, ice climbing, snowshoeing, etc). I am in love with the cashmere feel of the wool on my skin.

I liked the double layer thickness because it felt that this gaiter, unlike my other winter weight ones, could cut the wind protecting my chin and neck for most activities.

When doing aerobic activities, I normally have to remove my neck gaitor after warming up. With WoolX, I could keep it on the entire outing which reduced the number of stops I had to make (or hold up a group for). The merino wool fabric does wick well and regulate your body temperature quite well.

I enjoyed the 10 inch length of the neck gaiter. On windy days, I could pull it up over my face quite easily.

Quality: I found the quality of WoolX's products to be superb. You won't be disappointed. This neck gaiter is now my new favourite and seems to be with me on all winter outings! I recently won a raffle at a ice climbing festival and the prize was a new WoolX neck gaiter. I was absolutely thrilled to have a second one in my quiver.

Cons: This product fit me perfectly. That said, I could see how larger necked people might feel that it is too tight. Maybe two sizes WoolX?

Best Uses: Skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, snowmobiling, other winter activities, etc

Full disclosure: I was provided this neck gaitor from WoolX to test and review. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

WOOLX WOMEN'S BASECAMP HOODIE REVIEW

The WoolX basecamp hoodie is the lightest merino wool hoodie in their line. I tested this baselayer out during the winter of 2016 while hiking, skiing, ice climbing, and snowshoeing.

WoolX Women's Basecamp Hoodie
Sizes: XS-XXL
Colour: Black Pomegranate, Pomegranate Pop, Pomegranate Orange
Price: $95 USD
Weight: 6.4oz (medium)

Features:  WoolX boasts that their Australian merino wool is one of a kind. They say it's the softest merino wool on the market. The Basecamp hoodie is lightweight and super wicking.

The baselayer has a large hood, 1/2 zip, and thumbholes. The shape of the garment is extra long. It has non-chaffe seams, zip guards, and is washer and dryer safe.

Pros: When feeling this baselayer for the first time, it does feel much softer and silkier than any other merino wool top I own. When wearing it, it feels super comfortable against your skin. It is hands down my favourite merino top I own because of the feel. If you're not satisfied, WoolX has a no-itch guarantee.

Another thing you'll notice is the long torso length of this top covering most of your your hips and butt. I generally like flattering longer length tops so I enjoyed this feature, especially when tucking it into winter pants and wearing over leggings. The arm sleeves are also fairly long, making it easy to use the thumbholes.

The 1/2 front zip comes in handy when needing to vent. I like how the zipper opens up wide-I am generally not a fan of tight things around my neck!

It is a lightweight merino wool thicknness that wicks fairly well. In some super-high output activites, I did get wet from sweat, but for most moderate activities I had no problem. There were never any issues with odour ever and the fabric seemed to dry fairly quickly.

After a winter's worth of wear, there are no signs of durabilty issues. The fabric does not pill, and the shape stays true to it's original design. I never put the top in the dryer though.

Winter hiking in the Adirondacks with my WoolX Basecamp Hoodie
Cons: The pomegranate (pink) coloured hoodie is so thin that you can see black sports bra underneath fairly easily. I wouldn't wear this hoodie without a vest or other layer on top because of this. This is not difficult to do in the winter, but made me a bit self-conscious if I ever had to be seen wearing it without a layer. Next time I might opt for the black option. This probably wouldn't be an issue with the mid and heavy weight fabrics.

Best Uses: Hiking, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, ice climbing.

WoolX definetly got my attention with this hoodie. I would love to test some of the midweight and heavyweight merino tops in the future.
Full disclosure: I was given this hoodie by WoolX for the purpose of this review. The opinions expressed above are entirely my own.
